A very helpful resource for parents is KidsInMind . This website uses a numbered rating guide to measure how much sex, violence and profanity you will see in any given movie. G rated movies are not as sweet and innocent as they once were. Now the movie studios are trying to interest the parents as well and sometimes include questionable material. To help us make better-informed decisions about what we want our kids viewing, websites like Kids-in-Mind.com are really helping us.

A movie that I personally disliked was Babe Pig in the City. I am not sure if I would have avoided it but reading the review here may have swayed my decision. For those of you have seen it and were disturbed by the apparent dog drowning scene, you know what I mean.

The ratings do not just include the sex, violence and profanity factor. The adult issues and message are also clearly defined. This is really convenient when talking to your child about what the movie meant to them. Most of us don't need every single questionable item in the movie explained to us. When our children are approaching the PG-13 age though, you may really appreciate the excruciating details this website provides. Bookmark this site and check it before visiting the video store. Until next time.
