A way that I have found to make a few extra dollars every now and then is to be a regular participant with a Market Survey company. For the last five or six years, I have been in the database at a local survey company. I have tested new food products, given my opinion as an apartment dweller for things I would look for when buying a home, I have been a "juror" at a trial run through for a local high profile trial (one side of the lawsuit was looking for the verdict from specific types of jurors), to testing new laundry products. What fun!
A good thing about this is that generally, the testing does not interfere with my everyday life. Testing products for the home such as food or laundry fits in with my daily schedule. The trial case was held both in the evening and during the day so I could participate and still not interfere with my job.
How is this a good thing for me? None of the surveys have ever paid less than $60 for a small amount of my time. Now, I wouldn't consider this a part-time job, nor is the income flow reliable because many of the companies will not allow you to do a survey within a specific time range after your last one. Although it sure is a welcome treat to have an extra $60 to $200 in the "kitty" after one of these surveys. It does not matter if you are old or young, thin or not-so-thin, rich or poor, male or female, single or a family of 5. You never know who is looking for your opinion. These companies are in nearly all medium and large markets across the US.
