I want to second the suggestion about hulled oats (oat groats). I cook up a batch once a week and then eat away on them for about 11 cents per half cup cooked serving. And they keep you filled for four hours (along with skim milk and fruit). Plus, they are low in glycemic index, so they are heart/weight healthy too.
