Maximum Use Since many that I've known with a large freezer have lost all the content due to power outages, I just use my freezer above the refrigerator to the max. I've bought different colored, various sized plastic baskets. I put veggies in the green one, chicken in the yellow, red meat in the red one, etc. This mades it easier to search for an item, and if you pull the basket out of the freezer, you won't stand there with the door open wasting energy. I check freezer inventory once a week and plan meals around what I have. I have room for about two weeks' worth of meat, veggies, bread, frozen yogurt, and extra servings from all ready made meals. When we had a large garden, I Iearned to can with a pressure cooker. Do you have a time or money saving idea that wasn't included in this article? Please send it to tips @stretcher.com.
