Last week, I cut three week's worth and then called the four major grocery chains in the town where I shop to get their coupon rules. All but one just doubled to 50 cents. The fourth, however, tripled to 50 cents and doubled to $1! They were also having a great sale, so the total of my bill (enough for three weeks) was $101, but I saved $102 in coupons and store savings with my Frequent Shopper Card. Wow! I felt so good, we could afford to fill our gas tank and eat a nice meal out with the savings! Where Are These Coupons? "Smart shoppers know just where to find the best coupons for the products they prefer to buy." Just where do you find the best coupons? Each week, I check a site called the Coupon Organizer to see what coupons are listed in the Sunday paper. Since I found this site about six months ago, the only money I've saved is the price of the Sunday paper! There never seems to be any coupons that would even offset the price of the paper, let alone going out to get the paper (and of course disposing of it later). I've found a few sites online that offer "up to $75" worth of coupons to print. About once a month, I find one or two coupons that I might be able to use. Most are for items I will never use or products I've never heard of. The Kroger store is the only store in my area that doubles coupons (I used to see triple coupons about once a month, but not for a long time). However too many coupons that I used to see for 50 cents off an item are now 55 cents off (can't be doubled) for two or three items. This brings the savings down to 27 cents or less per item. How can you slash your grocery bill in half when you only save 27 cents per $2 item? Do you have a time or money saving idea that wasn't included in this article?
