Some birthday gifts aren't things. Some gifts are experiences that we can remember for years. What better memory for your young birthday child than a backyard campout?
Set up a tent in the backyard and pile in lots of quilts, pillows and sleeping bags. Kids will love the chance to stay up late and spend time with friends. Just don't count on actual sleep happening anytime soon. For younger kids, have an older child or adult supervise. It will feel adventurous, but they will be close enough to keep an eye on, or in case of rain. If you don’t own a tent, ask a neighbor or the parent of a friend of the child.
