Women Shopping Together at Supermarket photo from Shutterstock
When you realize you're running out of a necessary item before your next shopping trip, ask a friend or family member to pick up the item for you. Even if you end up paying them a small amount for the favor, it will probably still be less than what you would spend on uncontrolled spending.
Or shop with a friend. Write out a list of things that you need. Have your friend write out his/her list. Swap lists. Meet later at the register to swap carts. Just stick to the list. Don't add things to the cart for yourself. Another idea is to shop together, but only stick to your lists. Your friend will keep you on track, eliminating the urge for uncontrolled spending.
