We've been eating more pork. My family likes it, especially if I spice it up a bit. I've been buying different marinades for pork, but they're pricey. Does anyone have any pork marinade recipes that I can make myself?
Marinades are super easy to make at home. Remember the point is twofold, namely to enhance flavor and tenderize the meat. Fruit juice will tenderize. Lime juice, lemon juice, and orange juice work really well. To the juice, add your choice of spices. Start with salt, pepper, onion powder, and garlic. As you experiment, try adding soy sauce, ginger, thyme, and pineapple. You might also want to just do a dry rub of salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and thyme. You can add hot pepper, too. Rub this all over the meat and then roast or slow cook. Be bold. Try to experiment. You will discover the juices and spices you like best.
Slow Cooked and Delicious
I put a pork loin into the slow cooker and add a can of cranberry sauce, a bottle of barbecue sauce, and some onions. We eat it on rice, and it is delicious!
Freeze Marinated Meat for a Quick, Easy Meal
I make a basic marinade for London broil, but it would work just as well for pork or chicken. In a bowl or zipper bag, I add some oil, garlic, salt, pepper, soy sauce, and balsamic vinegar (and maybe a dollop of Dijon mustard). Then I add the meat, cover, and refrigerate. Just play it by ear with the proportions and the amount, and add or substitute ingredients as desired. Just make sure you have an oil (olive or regular cooking oil) and an acid (vinegar, lemon juice, or lime juice) included.
Even better, when you stock up on meat during a good sale, freeze it in zipper bags with the marinade. The marinade keeps the meat from drying out while frozen. Plus, it makes it easy when you're ready to prepare it. Just thaw the marinated meat right in the bag, remove the meat, and cook!
Marinate Pork in Apple Cider
An easy marinade for pork is apple cider. It gives a great flavor, especially for loins, which can be rather dry. Pineapple juice is also good. Add a little dry onion and let it set for several hours.
Two Great Ways to Fix Pork
We live on a small farm and raise hogs, so we have a freezer full of pork. I don't really use marinades, but here are a couple cheap, easy ways to cook pork. Pork shoulder roast is affordable and often on sale.
For pulled BBQ pork, simmer a pork shoulder until it is fall-apart tender. Drain and cool enough so you can handle it. Then pull meat apart with your hands. Put shredded meat back in pot. Add a little water and your favorite BBQ sauce. Mix it all together. Re-heat and eat! This makes great BBQ sandwiches. You can make ahead of time and freeze, too.
For diced seasoned pork, you can use whatever pork is on sale to make this. Dice the pork into pieces. Mix pork, a cup or so of water, garlic, and chicken bouillon cubes in a skillet and cook over medium heat. Your ingredient amounts will vary to taste and to how much meat you are cooking. Stir occasionally and cover. Cook until meat is done. You can eat this pork as is, freeze it for later quick suppers, or add it to various dishes. Our family favorite is to make stir-fry by adding assorted diced veggies towards the end of cooking. Green peppers, zucchini, onion, and carrots are all good. Turn the heat a bit higher when you add veggies, stir often, and cook until tender crisp. Serve over rice. Yum! This pork is also good in burritos,

Whenever I need help with a recipe or marinade, I use AllRecipes.com for inspiration. You can search by "Pork Marinade" or even by ingredients that you have in your refrigerator. I find that marinades are easy to make, and I often use up condiments that are taking up space in the door of my refrigerator. I am no expert, but I usually throw in some oil, an acid, and some spices that I have on hand. I have never been disappointed. If you don't have time to marinate your meat, just rub some spices on it just before cooking. I use any salt-free seasoning I have on hand, as salt seems to dry out the meat, and any lemon juice, steak sauce, BBQ sauce, or salad dressing for moisture. My clan isn't too picky, but it works for us!

Here's a Great Ginger Soy Marinade
I found this recipe online, and it's wonderful. I've only used it on London broil, but I bet it would taste great on pork also.
Ginger Soy Marinade
1/2 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup brown sugar
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon honey
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger (I used ground, but less)
Love These Grilled Pork Chops
I make pork chops on the grill in the following manner. One hour before I am ready to cook, I take the pork chops out of the refrigerator, rub each side of the chop with the cut end of a garlic clove, sprinkle with salt and pepper, and then rub rosemary all over both sides. Then I grill as usual. You can do this the day before and keep in the fridge, but always let the meat sit out for an hour before you cook it and let it sit for 10 to 15 minutes after it is cooked. This will allow it to re-absorb all of its juices.
Accidental Pork Marinade
I discovered a great pork marinade by mistake. A neighbor gave me a bucket of apples from his tree. I peeled and cut the apples into chunks and made apple pie filling, which I put into jars and canned. I got the recipe off of Pinterest. A friend told me I could use the peels to make apple jelly. So I cooked the peels down, strained the juice, added sugar, and cooked until I thought it was ready. Supposedly, apples make their own pectin, so I didn't have to add anything. Well, after putting it in jars and processing it in a water bath, it still did not gel. I was going to dump it all, but my husband suggested I keep it as a pork marinade. So I labeled the jars and moved on.
Allow Enough Time to Marinate
Here's an extremely easy, delicious pork marinade. Use one tablespoon of thyme leaves, half of a teaspoon of dried garlic, and orange juice to cover. The longer the pork chops marinate the better. I like to marinate mine overnight.

Enjoy This Time-Tested Pork Marinade and Sauce
This is a wonderful recipe for pork marinade that my sister-in-law gave me years ago.
Honey Grilled Pork Loin
1 2-3 lb. pork loin
1/2 - 2/3 cup soy sauce
1/2 - 1 teaspoon minced ginger
2-3 cloves minced garlic
Mix together and marinate roast in zipper bag for at least 30 minutes.
3-4 tablespoons brown sugar
4-5 tablespoons honey
1 1/2 tablespoons olive oil
Heat the sauce until the sugar melts. Cut loin roast almost through to make a butterfly roast. Grill 20 to 25 minutes over medium heat. Turn twice, and make sure internal temperature reaches 160 degrees F. Baste with sauce while grilling. Garnish with pineapple and parsley.
Spice It Up with Curry
I love a mixture of curry (to taste) and honey with a spoon of mustard. Then I bake the pork as I normally would. It's very delicious on chicken as well!
"Cleaning Out of the Condiments" Marinade
I often do a "cleaning out of the condiments" marinade, using a dash of this and a dash of that. I have even used pickle juice from jars after the pickles are gone. Surprisingly, we can't tell that it's pickle juice. For any marinade, all that's needed is a bit of oil, some seasoning, and a bitter, such as wine or vinegar. Italian dressing contains all three. We love 1/4 cup soy sauce (low sodium), 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce, fresh garlic, and some oil.
