Would you like to earn money using your pickup truck while travelling on someone else's dime? Perhaps while you have been driving your car, van or truck, you've noticed the "wide-load" sign and a very new-looking motorhome being towed. People like you are needed full- and part-time and on an as-needed basis. You are needed as employees and independent contractors to transport new motor homes from Point A to Point B from a manufacturer or recreational vehicle (RV) showroom to a lot for sale or from a RV dealer to an individual new owner.

According to the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association, just in the month of January 2015, approximately 28,494 RVs were sold at an increase of about 11%. Families, retirees, and the general public are snatching up RVs in great numbers, so the market is clearly there. If you and your pickup truck are both in good shape and you have the inclination and a sense of adventure, this may be a great job or source of supplemental income.

How much money can you earn transporting motor homes?

If you search online "find jobs transporting motor homes," several reputable websites will appear. You will be challenged finding a real dollar amount that sounds truthful. One site claims a gross income of about $50,000 yearly. One man, who was interviewed, claims to be earning about $100,000 annually. He said that he has built an excellent reputation. Now, dealers approach him to transport their RVs.

Therefore, the potential to earn money transporting RVs is great, but there is a catch. Drivers are paid one way for expenses for their transport, but their return trip is on their own dime. Eating expensive meals and staying in 5-star hotels on the way back home can eat into profits significantly, leaving the transporter with a mere $50 a day for all this tough driving. A minimum wage could earn you more and with a lot less work or responsibility!

What qualifications do you need to transport motor homes?

At RVTransport.com, you'll discover that you must be at least 25 years old with four years related driving experience, meaning that you have driven large vehicles before, such as a bus, motor coach, or truck. Also, you must have an acceptable truck and your own hitch. Some websites mention that you also need a commercial driver's license (CDL).

If you have an inkling of interest to use your pickup truck to earn money transporting motor homes, you may want to head over to your local RV dealer and bend their ear about this idea. Perhaps they can refer you to someone who has done this or maybe they would even hire you for a short try to see if you would be the right person to hire for future jobs.
