Where do I start? I don't have the time. Nonsense. Here you go. In fifteen minutes, you will be done with your first family tree. Read on. The internet is ideal for genealogy research and so many people today are catching the family research fever. One of the best known sources on the internet is www.Cyndislist.com. It is a little like a table of contents for the Internet. This is a fantastic resource of commercial, personal, and other sites. It is an excellent resource, especially for the intermediate or advanced genealogist. Or the non-frugal genealogy beginner. There is another site that may not be as well known but is gradually becoming so. It is Familysearch.org. I believe that it is more like an index of the genealogy sites on the internet. As the name suggests, they can do a search for you, and being nonprofit, it is free. Now, I know that genealogy is an advanced science and researching this requires great expertise. Let me tell you that with one ancestor's name, ten minutes and this web site, you can run a search of their 350 million names. It can list not only details of your family's dates and place of birth, but also connect you to web sites that may have more family information. Information that may seem difficult to attain, may already be researched by others. In addition, they have some excellent genealogy software that would probably retail in the $30-40 range or more, but you can download it for free. Wow. Download it as a gift, offer the address to others, or as I recommend, print up a lovely pedigree, or just a family group record for a close friend or family member and include the URL address, so they can continue their own research and download the software themselves. It is the best site for genealogy on the internet and probably the best place for everyone to start their family history. Who wouldn't like to know the names of their ancestors and where they came from? Family members may especially appreciate this type of gift. Take a look at this site and see what you can do in five or ten minutes. But be careful, it is addicting. Have fun and happy hunting.
